Thankful Thursday, 3.29.12

Wow! It's Thursday already.

ThankfulThursday

What a blessed week I've been having - praying you have had one as well!

Making a list of what you are thankful for will help insure that you will start viewing life like it is half full instead of half empty! And it will remind you of all you are blessed with when you have a not so good day!

So many wonderful, beautiful things to be thankful for...

Work. Although it drives me crazy (pretty frequently) the ladies I work with are amazing and it makes work that much easier.

Wedding time!! Going to a wedding on Saturday...I'm excited to be a part of the beautiful, special day.

Of course, what goes along with weddings is getting all dolled up. I'm excited for that! I asked a childhood friend of mine (who I'm excited to hang out with!) to help with my hair & make-up (right up her alley!) - she got excited and already sent me a photo of how she wants to do my eyes & my hair...to match my coral one-sleeved dress:

I'm getting a manicure & pedicure Friday after work! Woohoo. I'm in dire need of a pedi - I kept putting it off. I'm going to try out the gel polish when I get my mani! I hope it will last 2 weeks!

I've changed my workouts up a bit - and I've been feeling super sore. I love that feeling!

Beach reading! (If you have any recommendations - let me know!)

Date night! Spending time, just the 2 of us, makes me ever so happy!

Seeing Hunger Games with V's little sister, my little cousin, mom, aunt, and my mom's friend - it was certainly a family affair! It was such a fun time with everyone. OH and I completely adored the movie! Some of the differences (book VS movie) irked me - but I still enjoyed it!

Being told I look like Julia Roberts. :)

Finally seeing Footloose (the remake) with a friend over the weekend. Made me smile and think of the original. I love watching people dance - like Dancing With the Stars!

Friendships I've made via the Blog'o'sphere! <3

Keep being blessed!!

Sprint Customer Service Issues

Again, another customer service issue...

Does this make sense to anyone...

Jordan in New Mexico at extension 6032 has informed me that even though after 12+ years of being a loyal - complaint free - paid in full each month customer - I am "lucky" that Sprint has allowed me to be a customer. (REALLY??!!)

My bill has increased an amount of $20.00 a month in the MIDST of my contract with them. Last July, I re-signed my contract with them...so why, February of 2012 did the price change? Shouldn't it stay the same until July of 2013??

Spring has decided to take off the charge for last month, this month and the next 2 months - but they will not take it off for the remainder of the contract which is until July 2013. Why help me half way?

I have been made to feel like I am "that customer" who is just calling to try and get discounts for nothing... NO, I just want the price I was told I would receive when I re-signed my contract to remain.

Here I am after 12+ years, and have always bragged about how great Sprint has treated me - but now has come crumbling down.

My mission - GET MY BILL TO BE THE AMOUNT I SIGNED ON FOR.

Now, since I have called 4-5 times within the past couple of days to try and get this TOTALLY fixed not half way - they say I am a "problem" customer. #help

I am still waiting on a "higher" up to call me back which has now been almost 3 days later...

Day 3 trying to get this resolved.

Would one of you guys below like to help a loyal customer of yours pay their bill and enjoy my service?

Update:

So, as of March 29 at 9:45am-

Let's see how long it takes to hear back. (Phone calls with Sprint with supervisor after supervisor did nothing)

Compliments Are Key...

Who doesn't like receiving compliments? If you remember, I sure do. Receiving a compliment is one of my favorite things. That makes me sound incredibly full of myself...but it seriously is a complete mood-changer. It also makes you realize + remember how powerful words are.

Last week one of the members told me that I looked like Julia Roberts. For the next 2 days, my confidence was sky high.

One day last week I wore my hair up (which I don't normally do) and I got quite a few compliments about it - made me so happy!

Saturday, I complimented a cutie pie that I see every day at work. He's not more than 18 years old. I told him I liked his hair - he had been growing it out. His face lit up and said he was thinking about cutting it - but since I complimented him, he started second guessing it. Well, I saw him today and his hair is still long. ;)

I try to compliment as many people as I can during the day. Why not?

Today, I dare you to do just the same. Compliment your little heart out.
You don't know what that person might be going through - a little confidence booster might be just what they need to hear!

The smile on their face will be sure to cause a smile on yours!

And to start - I think you are wonderful for reading my thoughts :)

Health Benefits of Juicing

Due to my delicious juice recipe I shared with you - I thought it was time for some health benefits...

About a 2 months ago, V & I started juicing. I am absolutely loving it! (Except for the clean up process - that is absolutely terrible.)

Juicers range in price from $50-$200+. The one V & I went with was a $99 Jack Lalanne juicer...which I highly recommend. You can't beat the price! This juicer is fairly easy to clean, as well. (Easier than less expensive, other juicers that I have tried.)

There are so many health benefits of juicing...

By juicing vegetables & fruit, your body absorbs all of the important nutrients.

By juicing vegetables & fruits, you can consume a large number of vegs/fruits in an efficient manner. (Instead of sitting there and eating 5 carrots, 1 celery stalk, an apple, a half of a lemon, some ginger, and a half of a beet - all you have to do is drink a glass of it!)

Juicing vegetables & fruits allow you to have variation in your diet.

Juicing helps your body detox by elimination toxins, fats, preservatives, chemicals, etc. that you consume from other food - anti-oxidants help this process.

(That's just to name a few benefits!)

Speaking from experience, you have more energy when you drink fresh juice like this - you can feel it in your body.

From my morning "Power Juice" recipe - the following nutrients is what is in each vegetable:

Beets- Vitamins A, B, C, E; iron, magnesiu, manganese, potassium
Purifies & cleanses the blood, liver, kidneys, and arteries.

Carrots- Vitamins A, B, C, D, E, G, K; calcium, copper, potassium, etc.
Prevents cataracts & other eye problems. Helps energize you, cleanse & heal the body.

Celery- Vitamins B and C; iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium
Eases inflalmmation, arthritis and helps lower blood pressure. Helps with sleeping problems as well.

Ginger- Helps with inflammation, digestion, motion sickness, and morning sickness

Green Apple- Vitamins A, C, E, B1, B6; calcium, iron, copper, zinc
Great source of fiber, helps reduce skin disease, contains antioxidants, prevents constipation and diarrehea, nourishes the skin

Lemon- Vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, C, E; potassium, calcium, zinc
Aids in digestion, stimulates your liver to make bile so you can digest food throughout the day

Usually I put spinach in it, too - but I had just ran out!
Spinach- Vitamins A, B, C, and K; calcium, iodine, iron, phosphorous, potassium
Helps with anaemia, depression, fatigue, and digestion. Great body cleanser as well.

If you would like more information on juicing - let me know! Would love to do more posts on it if it would interest anyone. :)

Happy juicing!

Tasty Tuesday - Fresh Power JUICE Recipe

When I mentioned that I found a new juice recipe, I had some questions as to a recipe - so I thought I would share it with you on Tasty Tuesday!

Fresh Power Juice Recipe

Ingredients:
5 carrots
1 celery stalk
1 granny smith apple
1/2 lemon
1/2 beet
ginger knuckle

Ingredients

Directions:
1) Add the following to a juicer, I go in this order of the ingredients: celery, carrots, ginger, beet, lemon, apple.

Final product

It is important that you consume your juice right away (or store it in a glass container and place it in the refrigerator) - otherwise bacteria can grow in it!

Every morning, along with my breakfast (which usually consists of eggs or oatmeal) I drink this delicious juice - full of so many nutrients!

The Fresh Diet - Counting Phone Numbers, Not Calories!

As I mentioned last week, I have been on the Fresh Diet and have absolutely adored the fact that I don't need to count calories - phone numbers are the most important thing to count! ;) I was blessed to do a 7 day trial of the diet - 3 meals a day and 2 snacks!

My experience with the Fresh Diet has been nothing short of amazing. Not only was the food delicious but it was also portion controlled, calorie controlled...oh, and gourmet AND fresh. It definitely beats any tv dinners, that's for sure!

When I received the meals, they came in a big box with dry ice - so you knew they were fresh. You could taste the freshness of the food - not like even some restaurants where you can just tell that your meal was microwaved from frozen.

After the first three days, a Fresh Diet representative e-mailed me to find out how I was liking the diet and if I had any concerns. How cool is that? The only concern I had, at the time, was the fact that the diet seemed to be lacking fruit. (I guess I'm old school - I can't get the food pyramid out of my head!) The representative quickly let me know that the reason for this is that the sugars in fruit inhibits dieting - so when there is fruit in a meal, it is of a small, healthy portion.

The Fresh Diet has helped me in many areas! Most importantly, save time! It has been a wonderful time saver...no longer did I have to stress about what I was going to have for lunch or dinner every night - it was already figured out for me! When I received my food, I also received a "menu" for those days. It was such a nice treat to have something different for every meal. (It gave me some ideas for future meals!)

I did notice a difference in my body while I was on the diet. My stomach seemed to be much less bloated and lean - something I want to continue seeing in my future! It definitely made me realize how important portion control is. (Not that I've ever been a glutton - but it was a great reminder!) Also the fact that fruits were usually a big part of my diet (strawberries recently since it's been the season!) and when I didn't eat them for the week I was on the diet proved to me how moderation is definitely key.

For me, being on the Fresh Diet was definitely a detox diet. (Detoxing from sugars found in processed snacks, too many strawberries and none of my normal protein bars!)

The one recommendation I would have for the Fresh Diet is that the amount of exercise a person does throughout a week be calculated in for the calorie intake per day. My calorie intake per day was 1,200-1,400. On the days I worked out, it should be calculated that you consume more calories (for energy, muscle growth, etc.)

And now - some photos of my delicious meals:
Apple french toast with ricotta Muffin with yogurt and papaya Asparagus quiche with cantaloupe

Steak with lentils & green beans Quiona with asparagus Chicken terraki with black orzo and tomatoes

And my summary of the Fresh Diet - incase you didn't want to read all of that -

Over all - 2 thumbs up of the diet for me!

You can receive 3 days free with the purchase of a 31 day plan at $29.99 per day. The promo code is: singlmar29.

Prom Dresses!

It’s almost prom season!

Ok, not really. But it’s close enough that girls are starting to look for party dresses for Prom. I know V’s sister is!

I love looking at dresses!! I really do. It’s always so fun – and brings me back to high school. Those were the days – the only worry (for me) was passing my next test.

Prom Girl Inc. has some incredible dresses. Their 2012 prom dresses line is fantastic! This line makes me wish I were in high school again just so I could find a gorgeous dress…

The Jovani Prom Dress is incredibly GORGEOUS:

Everyone will be looking to see who the girl is wearing this beauty! Since it is a gown and strapless, you can show off your tan and a beautiful necklace. As you can see, the dress is full of crystals, stones, and sequins…you’ll be bling-blinging BUT in a classy way! There is a leg slit so you’ll be able to show off your gorgeous legs. The highly-decorated dress will allow you to wear plain heels so you won’t take away from the dress!

Next in line is the Terani Couture gown…

Can you say breath-taking? Another strapless (show off a gorgeous piece of jewelry!) that would look stunning at prom. The mermaid style gives a sense of class and elegance. There is intricate detail of what looks like flowers and design.

Usually I am not a fan of short prom dresses, but the silver short prom dress by Tony Bowls is pretty amazing.
Although it is short, the flowing drapery over it adds some elegance to the dress. Included in the drapery is some chiffon – so you know this is one classy dress! The dress is a one-shoulder dress, which I have recently grown to love. The color is a silver-blue – so again, you can show off your gorgeous tan!

The hippie in me is loving the print chiffon prom dress!

Can you see why?

This gorgeous dress is a halter cut with a snazzy V-neck. Throughout the dress, as you can see, there is very intricate beading that adds a “wow” factor! The coloring of the dress is what is listed as a kaleidoscope of color in a very fun pattern. You are able to show off your individuality with this floral print dress. Due to all of the colors, you can accessorize however you’d like - purple, orange, green, etc. Prom accessories are some of the most fun!

The Clarise prom dress will steal the show – I promise you that!

In a gorgeous peach color – this beautiful ball gown will have heads turning all night! Leading to the black belt is intricate crystal beading. Under the belt are huge flowers that go down the dress (on one side.)

No matter which dress you chose from Prom Girl, Inc. – you will not be disappointed. You can see the care they put into each and every dress. Each and every dress is incredibly gorgeous! Like I said, I wish I were going to prom so I could pick one of these dresses.

May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor...

I'm seriously like a teeny bopper right now. I am so excited to get off of work and see the Hunger Games!

I think this is pretty hilarious...I am giggling at work...

If you're going tonight - hope you have fun & enjoy the movie! <3
I am crossing my fingers that they haven't ruined the wonderful books!

March Birchbox!

Remember when I revealed my February Birchbox last month? I was kind of iffy about it. I decided to stick with it and try another month. I'm sure glad I did!

For those who may not know, Birchbox offers 4-6 beauty samples based on your beauty profile. You also have the ability to let Birchbox know if you are interested in organic products or if you are prone to be allergic to beauty products.

Oh & have I mentioned that I love getting mail? Especially when it looks like this:

This is what was in my Birchbox...

It looks like:

1- Color Club - Nail Lacquer in Jackie Oh!
I am LOVING this color and brand. I think it's gorgeous & it's perfect for spring/summer time. Full size is only $8 - which is totally do-able. Thumbs up!

2- Coloniali - Invigorating Tibetan Shower Cream with Rhubarb
This smells pretty delicious! I have enough shower gel to last a life time, though. I know it's not shower gel - but it's close enough. I'm iffy - only because I do like the product but I could have lived without it.

3- Miss Jessie's Original - Quick Curls
I am pretty much LOVING this product. I am not loving the price - $32 for a whole bottle...but believe it or not, I might cave and get some. I feel like it makes my curls look great and not wet...my curls are able to be natural and curly without being frizzy or "crunchy" from product. Oh and the smell is pretty amazing...reminds me of bar soap and lavender. Thumbs up! What do you think...how do you think it makes my curls look?

4- One Love Organics - Skin Savior Waterless Beauty Balm
I love that this product is organic! Too cool. It is a 2-in-1 cleanser and moisturizer. It feels very good on the skin - I do like that you don't need to put moisturizer on after washing your face! Full size is $58...ouch! Will have to say thumbs up though.

5- WEI Pomegranate Buffing Beads
I've never used anything like this before so wasn't sure what to expect. It sure smells good and feels pretty good, too! I'm iffy on this, though. I think because I've never used anything like this before.

6- Coloniali - Deep Massage Body Cream with Myrrh
Yes pleaseeeee! This product smells so amazing and feels just as fabulous. Why does it have to be $70 though? Thumb way up!

Four thumbs up & two "iffies" - successful Birchbox to me!

How did you like your March Birchbox?

Thankful Thursday, 3.22.12

It's my favorite day of the week - Thankful Thursday!

ThankfulThursday

There is always SO much to be thankful for.

I am so excited that I am on week 13 of these link-ups and they seem to be going great! It makes me so happy when I see what amazing thankful hearts you all have. <3 Hope you enjoy it as much as me!

Remember that being thankful is good for your heart - soul - spirit - mind - everything!

I am thankful for so much every week - but this week especially!

I've found a new delicious juicing recipe - it includes strawberries!

I've been enjoying my week so far on the Fresh Diet! It's been delicious. And makes my life SO much easier...no counting calories, no thinking of new recipes to make!

Beautiful weather! Ok, so I have a love-hate relationship with the hot weather. I do enjoy it very much but once it starts to get super humid + hot - my poor curls won't be a happy camper + neither will I. ;) I've been getting my tan on!

Jelly fish!

The Hunger Games coming out this week...YAY!! Finally. I hope the movie proves to do the book justice - I really do.

Listening to V play on the guitar...he's so talented. Warms my heart. :)

Dancing with the Stars starting again. The season premiere was incredible - the best ever. I wish I could move like that. Sigh.

Members missing me at work when I have a day off - makes me feel pretty special!

My weekend spent with my 2 best friends from Stetson! We spent time together, caught up with some other old friends, and went to Epcot!

Me, Angela, and Sonya <3
