Fall 2012 Beauty Blogger VoxBox

Remember when I received a Spring Beauty Blogger Voxbox? Time for a fall one!

There were SO many fun goodies inside.

If you don't want to watch the video...

The NYC New York Color IndividualEyes Custom Compact comes in a few different type of shades. I am LOVING this compact because I used to own it...until I used most of it up and it got old. (Remember, you need to do a make-up clean out every few months, depending on the product.) When I originally owned the product, I didn't know what primer was...now that I know, I'm excited to test it out.

I'm a big lash gal. I love finding the perfect mascara so I have gorgeous lashes. Fake lashes? I've used them once, I think...for a Halloween costume. Lately, I've been thinking of using them for wedding photos. (Thoughts?) Needless to say, I'm excited that Kiss Ever Pro Lashes is apart of this Voxbox!

V will say I have too many candles. I don't think you can ever have enough. The Mini Candles from Bath & Body Works (the scent I got, at least!) smells delicious. It's so cute that they're so small. And helpful so you won't get tired of it!

EBOOST is a mixture of vitamins that give your body a boost! There's a lot of these products on the market. Some of them taste so nasty. I'm interested to find out what this one is like.

I tried using Good Simple Styles Spin Pins a few months ago. I failed. I'm going to give it another try. (I'm not very good with doing hair!)

Speaking of hair, I am SO psyched to try Not Your Mother's Kinky Moves Curl Hair Cream. I'm always open to giving hair products a try...whatever works to keep my frizz away and my curls lively!

I didn't realize Boots was in the U.S. until Boots No. 7 Beautiful Skin was apart of the box. I remember Boots form Scotland! Another face cleansing regiment to try with hopes that it works. :)

Are you apart of Influenster? If so, what are some of your favorite products you've learned about through them?

ThankfulThursday

This week I am thankful for many amazing blessings!

The Lord was on our side this week - big time - when someone stole from our hallway. Since we live on the beach, there is usually a random assortment of beachy "toys" just outside of our door.

We've had a bucket with some fishing bait, a fishing pole, swimming goggles, and more outside of our front door.

When we woke up on Tuesday morning, it was all gone. Thankfully, our bikes were still there!

Someone also stole from a neighbor.

Nothing too serious or extreme was taken - but it still stinks. And is an invasion of privacy...at home.

It serves as a reminder that you can never be too careful. I am just so thankful that it wasn't too serious or dangerous at all.

What is it that makes you thankful this week?

Birchbox VS Ipsy - October

Another stash of some lifestyle/makeup fun!

My Birchbox...
-Essie polish
-Jouer, lip enhancer
-Malin+Goetz, vitamin b5 body moisturizer
-Supergoop sunscreen
-Kusmi Tea - 2 different types (extra)
-Malin+Goetz, grapefruit face cleanser (extra)

My thoughts...
Essie polish is fabulous. Love the color! This polish pretty much makes the whole box worth it - it's usually $8 so well worth it.
The Jouer, lip enhancer is also great because there is no color. Love lip products that don't have crazy colors.
I'm pretty happy with the body moisturizer as well. The smell isn't too great but definitely moisturizes.
I'm not too thrilled with the sunscreen. Sunscreen is sunscreen, isn't it?
I am super excited to try the Kusmi tea - I love finding new delicious teas.
I'm always nervous to try new face cleanser...my skin tends to be sensitive and I'm always nervous it'll cause me to breakout!

Thoughts: This was a pretty okay Birchbox. If it wasn't for the Essie, I wouldn't have been a happy camper - at all! The polish saved it. I am happy about the lip enhancer and moisturizer but doesn't take over the box like the polish does!

And now my Ipsy...
-Lip Bomb Glossy Stain
-Be a Bombshell Eye Liner
-theBalm Mascara
-Perquil Oil Treatment
-Coastal Scents Eye Shadow
-Super cute makeup bag!

My thoughts...
Like I said earlier, I'm a huge lip gloss lover. But the color of this Lip Bomb Glossy Stain is horrible. I tried wearing it and it completely washed me out. I wish it looked good - it seemed like it would last a long time.
Ohmygosh. The Be a Bombshell Eye Liner is just WONDERFUL! It is a marker-like tip and so easy to put on. I am so happy with this. I think that this eye liner is well worth the whole bag!
I love finding new mascara that I like...theBalm mascara is pretty great.
I'm excited to try the Perquil Oil Treatment. With my frizz ball hair, I need some type of treatment to help tame my frizz. So far, it seems to work. The smell is pretty good too.
New eye shadow makes me iffy - especially since I'm a happy camper with my TooFaced palette. I have yet to use the Coastal Scents Eye Shadow - when I do, I'll let you know how it is!
This makeup bag is just wonderful, isn't it?

My Thoughts: Again - ipsy outranks Birchbox this month for me!

You Know You're Getting Old When...

you choose comfort + support over style when it comes to picking new shoes.

I've been in desperate need of a new pair of shoes. I'm a huge fan of Sperry's but couldn't find a style that I liked.

Wednesday night I was faced with 2 very similar shoes - both ballet-type of shoe and both had support. One was a little more stylish and one was pretty ugly. One was "kind of comfortable" and the other was totally comfortable.

You know which pair of shoes I picked - after an internal dilemma - the shoes that felt like I was walking on air.

In my eyes, not the cutest. Seriously, what's that weird double strap/thread crossing? I haven't the slightest clue. Weird. Not my personal taste. BUT - definitely comfortable. (And out of all the choices for this brand - the most simple/not completely ugly.)

Sorry Naturalizers - you're not the most stylish but you surely are a winner in my book. Thanks for making my feet feel wonderful and giving my arches much needed support!

What do you do - go for the comfortable old lady shoes or pick the most "in" shoe?

As I write, I am watching a documentary (Wretches & Jabberers) with my love about a couple of autistic gentleman who go around the world advocating, teaching others about autism.

They talk about the rough time they had growing up and they continue having in their life - having a difficulty communicating with others.

Despite their difficulty, they are rising above it and making a difference in the world. They are out there teaching and shedding awareness to others - breaking misconceptions the public might have an autism.

I believe that knowledge is one of the most powerful things in this world.

I am thankful for individuals like them who are overcoming obstacles in their lives to  go out there and make a difference in the world.

If that is you - rising high above obstacles in life, going out there to educate and make a difference - thank you!

Wedding Wednesday: Color Scheme

I picked bridesmaid dresses over the weekend but am holding off showing them off - I might make you wait until the wedding to see! ;)

I'll share with you the color scheme instead.

Guava & mermaid!

What stinks is that David's Bridal no longer carries mermaid colors so V is going to wear mermaid & the bridal & grooms parties will wear guava. I'll make the flowers in mermaid too!

I'm excited to see these colors in action.

I've also decided my maid of honor will wear the same dress as the other girls. I'll just make her bouquet bigger. I feel that there would be too many colors going on if she was wearing a different colored dress.

What were your wedding colors? How did you make them work together during your big day?

Top 5 Memories of the Week

1. SUSHI!
They added a new one at our favorite restaurant...love new rolls!

2. Being able to straighten my hair.
Thank you for less humidity, FL!

3. Cuddle time with my sister's roomate's kitty.
He reminds me of my Buddy, who I miss so much </3

4. Surprises! V went on a "man date" with a friend of his in St. Augustine. He came home with some beautiful earrings for me! They're made of sea glass. I love surprises! He even surprised me with them at work. I can't wait to marry him. :)

5. Deep fried ice cream.
Hello unhealthy. But hello scrumptious!

I am thankful and excited to start a new venture!

I have started to blog for my adorable small town - Flagler Beach. (Designed by my wonderful soon-to-be husband!)
Will you take a look and let me know what you think?
What would you like to know about Flagler Beach or even Florida living?

I have it up on Wordpress - this is one of my first times where I've had enough patience to learn it! ;) It is very different than Blogger but so far, I am enjoying it.

I am thankful for the opportunity to blog for my town...for the learning experience...for the time to be able to dedicate to it...most of all, because I enjoy blogging and sharing my knowledge with others!

Wedding Wednesday: Photographer

I've finally accepted that no matter what the cost (within reason) the photographer is clearly one of the most important choices you make for your wedding. Because of your photographer, your memories will live in forever.

I have yet to finalize my photographer yet - but I have narrowed it down to just a few.

Cost has become somewhat of a deciding factor. I would like a photographer ALL DAY - which I know, increases the price.

Unless you pay the big bucks, not many of the ones I've looked at include photo albums. Did your photographer have a package that included a photo album?

I know asking to share prices is kind of a touchy subject for some, but I'm interested to know what you spent/are planning to spend for a photographer for your wedding.

The ones I've looked at are in the $1,000-$1,500 range. I haven't found anyone for any lower than that. I'm not really in a major city in Florida so I know my prices reflect that. (Although quite a few I've looked at are near $2,500-$3,000.)

Any tips in picking a photographer would be appreciated! :)

iPhone 5 VS. Galaxy S3

It's about time for a new phone for me. My iPhone 4 is almost two years old. For the most part, it works great. The main issue is the Home Button sticking and not working 100% correctly. (And...well...I want something new!;)

I'm kind of upset that Apple changed things so much with the iPhone 5 - as far as accessories go! This means none of my iPhone cases, my docking station, my arm holder for the gym - nothing!! - will work. I know it will work if you buy the extension/attachment but that's just extra money that Apple is forcing us to spend. (My little rant - makes me mad!) I am a huge Apple fan - I always preach how Apple is the best - I do believe they are pretty great. But I'm peeved as to how much they suck you in to their side of the world.

With saying this, I am looking between the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S3.

I've never owned a Samsung but have done a decent amount of research and it seems like the two are pretty comparable.

iPhone 5 seems to be best in...

  • Design
  • Screen Quality
  • User Interface
  • Camera Quality
  • Voice Assistant
  • Updating

SamSung Galaxy S3 seems to be best in...

  • Operating System
  • Texture
  • Maps
  • Charging Accessory (can use USB cord!)
  • Battery Life

I'd almost want to just say I want the Galaxy because you can use a normal USB cord to charge it...pretty cool! I also just learned you can still use emojis with it!

The price is extremely competitive to one another so the cost should hold no water to your decision.

What are your thoughts? iPhone or Galaxy?

Put A Pin In It

It's been a while since I've shared my nail polish with you!

I got this one from my September Birchbox

It's called "Put A Pin In It" from Color Club...

What's your nail polish choice this week?

Wedding Wednesday: Flower Choice

There are SO many beautiful flower arrangements for weddings. DropDeadICantBelieveThisIsRealLife Beautiful.

With beauty, also comes price. (Just like anything else in the world.)

Although I want beautiful flowers, I'd rather spend a majority of funds in any directions - like getting the best photographer there is since these photographs live on forever!

I've decided that my wedding flower is going to be tulips.

Tulips are beautiful, classy, sophisticated and with the right color, fun! You can't really get much better than that.

I am LOVING the fullness of this bouquet and the ribbon is just precious...

Another white bouquet - so cute! I want some sort of detail like this on the stems.

This type of detail with the ribbon would be nice, too! My flowers are going to be a coral color.

The multiple colors adds a nice flare to it...

Another option for the stems - this one seems to be unique!

What was/is your wedding flower??
