Wedding Wednesday: Invitations

My goal is to send wedding invitations out by the last week of December and have the RSVP cards due by Feb 1. (The wedding is March 30.) Do you think that time line is ok?

There are SO many options for wedding invitations. Actually, there are too many. Not only all of the option choices but the price is playing a factor for me. I'm having a hard time spending a great deal of money when most people will throw the invitations away.

With that being said, I think I want to go the DIY route! My only real issue is my creativity not melding into something that looks clean, fun, and formal.

I'm going to have a beach theme at the wedding but think I want to go with using my wedding colors for the invitations.

What did you ladies decide to do for your wedding invites?

November's MyGlam

And here comes November's MyGlam/iPsy bag! I love the simplicity of the makeup bag this month.

The makeup goodness consists of:

theBalm - matte eyeshadow in a dark grey color
I love theBalm products (I use their blush) - this one included!! It sets on so nicely.

Starlet eyeliner - funny brown color
I love that it's a pencil but the color has got to go. I'm a plain jane gal and only use black...I tried this out in the brown color and it looks like I got beat up. This is a full size product.

Nailtini nail polish - sparkly goodness!
Crazy colors!! It's hard to get the sparkles on in a thin coat but I am loving how different it is! It's crazy looking for sure. (Which isn't a bad thing!) This is a full size product.

bareMinerals lip gloss - purple-like color
Weird color but loving the gloss!! Ok, maybe not a weird color but as I said below, it's out of my realm of normal colors. It doesn't look bad though!

Chella defining eyebrow gel - black color
When I got my makeup done for engagement photos, my makeup lady used something similar to this and it worked great. I'd never used it before I'm a fan.

This month's iPsy bag was okay - not the best, not the worst. Whenever I get full products, I'm one happy gal!

What did you get in your MyGlam - or Birchbox - this month?! Do share :)

Why I'm Loving Crest 3D White Strips!

First off, I'm a coffee drinker. I have at least 1 cup of joe a day in the morning! I might have another cup if I'm cold, bored, or wanting something sweet. I also tend to drink hot tea. All of this means that my pretty teeth are BOUND to get a little...well...dirty.

I was absolutely thrilled when I found out that I would be receiving a complimentary 20 day supply of Crest 3d strips thanks to Influenster! (Thank you!)

When I first started using the strips, I was a little nervous. Rumor has it that whitening treatments like this is unhealthy for your teeth. HOWEVER, this is not the case. If you use the treatments sparingly (not once a month but maybe once every 6 months) it is safe for your teeth. I even asked my dentist this at the last visit I had with them and that is what they told me - use the treatment smart and you'll be ok!

It is advertised that you will have a whiter smile within 3 days. I was surprised when at day 3, you could definitely tell a difference! The strips did a great job with cleaning up my teeth and making them nice and bright! Even at day 10, my smile was SUPER white!

I'm so impressed with the Crest 3D strips that I have recommended them to most of my family and close friends. Thank you, Crest, for my beautiful white teeth!

Do you choose Crest 3D to help you gain a whiter smile?

Snowman Refrigerator

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in our household!

With a couple pieces of paper and different color ribbons you can have a Mrs. Frosty refrigerator

I used: (2) pieces of dark blue paper
           (1) piece of orange paper
           (2) pieces of (2) different colored ribbons

To be simple, I just used tape to attach the above materials on the fridge.

And wa-la - you get a cutie Mrs. Frosty in your kitchen!
Found on Jamie's blog originally!

You can pin this so you can remember to do it later!

Adding Hair Products from Folica on Christmas Lists

I’ll let you in on a little secret – I’m not doing so hot with Christmas shopping this year. Not only do I not have a list, but I also have NO earthly idea what to get anyone. Except some of the ladies, I’m thinking of spoiling them with some type of amazing hair products.

Until recently, I was not familiar with Folica. Folica has over sixty thousand hair products, which includes over three hundred different brands. There are a number of customer ratings and reviews that give the 411 on all of the hottest hair care products. There are also tutorials and suggestions for the “must have” products. (Their Top Ten lists are my favorite!) For someone like me (not well versed in hair styling products) – the set up of the website is incredibly easy to use.

When shopping online, I am interested in the companies that give perks for online shopping (we both know how expensive shipping can get! Until the end of December, Folica is offering all customers the opportunity to win $50 credit to Folica – with all customers winning something! One in every one hundred customers will win the full $50 credit. (A chance to win free money…yes, please!)

Even though it is the season for buying gifts for others – don’t forget to spoil yourself a little, too! As a Christmas gift to yourself, you could find a beautiful new hair flat iron like this:

(what I have my eyes on!) Or maybe your sister is complaining to you about her frizzy hair because she is looking for a new hair product to use! When it comes to hair care, Folica is your source!

As a female who always wants their hair to look the best, we are constantly on the lookout for the hottest new hair products that will make us look like a super star! The customer reviews that are offered make me feel better about my purchase – almost like I’m in the hair salon asking my stylist!

Not Your Mother's...

Sounds like the start of a joke, doesn't it?

That is NOT the case!

Thanks to the amazing company Influenster, I was able to try out some new hair cream from Not Your Mother's!

As you probably know by now, I am ALWAYS looking for new hair products to tame my curls. I do love my curls but sometimes they are just a little much.

First of all, let me mention that it smells HEAVENLY! It's a mixture of grape and jasmine. I scrunched it in my recently showered hair and it looked great. (I did add a touch of hair spray to hold my curls in, though!)

The product didn't leave any stiffness in it, if that makes sense. You could see my curls easily and they were soft curls instead of hard, crunch curls due to too much product. -That took a little getting used to for me, but I am happy with the result!

What do you think? Are you a fan of their products3?

Back in High School?

I feel like I'm back in high school. You know - that stage where once you find a song you like you put it on repeat until you get yelled at to turn it off or at least change the song.

Usually I don't listen to "mainstream" music. Lately, the radio in my car hasn't been working on my normal Christian music radio station. So, I've been listening to mainstream radio.

I've come across this song & for some reason can't stop listening. Back in the day, I was a huge fan of Fun - before they got big ;)

Do you have a song like this in your arsenal?

ThankfulThursday

To start, I am thankful that even though we weren't able to get our engagement photos done (crazy Mother Nature in Florida at it's best!) Now they're being rescheduled to next Wednesday...pray for beautiful weather, please! ;) Oh, but V & I were still able to enjoy a nice day together.

The ability to enjoy a delicious home cooked meal over the weekend - usually we're on the go on weekends so it was nice...dinner & a movie!

The ability to share love with all I come across on a daily basis.

A delicious new restaurant in town with some amazing food!

Cute pups! I love visiting pups - since we can't have any where we're at now - I'll go crazy if I don't have the ability to visit them ;)

What's making your list this week?

Wacky Women

There are a lot of attributes that all women seem to share – our great instincts, our hospitable nature, and our erratic emotions (sorry, it’s true!) You know what else most of us share? Our insane need to ruin our face even more when our face is plagued by a pimple.

Unfortunately I’m one of those ladies who can’t help myself. I know better! I tell myself I’m not going to do it because it will do absolutely no good. Sadly, when it comes to this, my willpower is pretty slim. Actually, it’s pretty non-existent sadly.

Before you scab up your face by picking, why don’t you try…
  • The toothpaste trick! Dab some (white) toothpaste on your problem area. When it hardens up, remove it.
  • Break a liquid Tylenol/Advil pill up. Put the liquid over your problem area and let it sit for fifteen minutes.

I’ve learned a few of tricks when you just can’t help yourself! Not that I condone picking your face apart, but in the event that it happens…
  • Dab some peroxide on the recently popped pimple.

Did I mention that I’m getting my engagement photos done tomorrow? Well, my face has a couple little issue areas because I couldn’t help myself. I told myself I wouldn’t…obviously I don’t listen to myself very well.

And this is one reason I’m extremely thankful for makeup! (And photoshop!)

Too Early to Decorate?

November 12. More than thirty days until Christmas.

Last year, V & I started a tradition of decorating for Christmas on Thanksgiving (or the day after depending when we get home from stuffing our faces.)

I think that is perfect - after Thanksgiving, the next holiday is Christmas. If you were to decorate for Christmas now - well - what about decorating for Thanksgiving?! It drives me a little crazy that stores are already all Christmas-ed out...where did Thanksgiving go?

It seems like each year, places are decorated earlier and earlier for Christmas. I think Christmas decorations should be revealed on Black Friday - it would be perfect!

What do you think? When do you start decorating for Christmas!?

Bath & Body Works Mini Candle LOVE!

Remember when I swooned over mini candle from Bath & Body Works yesterday?

I'm going to swoon about it a little more. It was apart of my Influenster Fall Beauty box that I told you about a few days ago. I am beyond thrilled it was in there - I have a new candle love!

First, I'll start off by saying I've never gotten a candle from Bath & Body Works before. I actually didn't realize they even had candles there!

The scent I got was White Barn (No 1) Nutmeg & Spice. Also known as holiday in a jar. Even though the candle is tiny (1.3 oz) the scent travels throughout the house. I would almost say I would drink this if it were in liquid form - if that makes any sense? Reminds me of a chai tea latte!

I decided to order a larger 3-wick candle in this scent. I've been holding off buying a 3-wick candle until I found the perfect one! I've been using small ones until I'm happy with one of the scents I could stand to use for quite some time!

I'm so glad that the candle was in stock, too.

Do you have a favorite winter candle scent? Or a favorite candle brand?

It's the tough times that remind you (or at least remind me!) how wonderful and special my life is...how every single moment is a beautiful moment that needs to be appreciated and enjoyed.

A young man (only 23) that I used to work with (he recently switched companies) passed away last weekend from a motorcycle accident. Only 23. Saddens me so much. He was so young - had so much to learn, see, enjoy. Despite the tragedy, I am thankful that he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior, though.

I am thankful that when our AC decided to quit on us during the week, I work for an air conditioning company where the technicians are pretty great - one of them was able to walk me through what to do to fix it!

I am thankful that my back and neck have been feeling great - I hadn't worked out in three weeks! I worked out for the first time on Tuesday night and boy did it feel SO good!

I'm SO thankful that we finally found a wedding photographer both V & I like and feel comfortable with. I guess now it's time to start practicing my smile in the mirror...engagement photos next Wednesday!

I'm thankful for cheating and having a slice of (vegetable) pizza for lunch during the week...so delicious. Usually I'm not a fan of pizza, but when it's made right, I'm down!

I'm thankful that I'll have the day before Thanksgiving off all the way until that Sunday! I haven't had that many days off in a row in years! I am psyched I get to spend all of that time with my family.

I'm thankful I started watching "Once Upon a Time" on Netflix! Totally my new "addiction!"

I'm thankful I live in a super small town that hosts fun events like the Bed Race! V was apart of it and his team took second place...woohoo! Such a fun event. Does your town have events like that?

I'm thankful for finding the most amazing smelling candle EVER. It's from Bath & Body Works. The scent is "White Barn, Nutmeg and Spice." I am so excited to snag a big 3 wick one - the smell is heavenly!

I'm thankful for "cold" weather - cold to Florida. It means I can dress cute and comfy and I can bust out my scarves!

What is it that is making YOU thankful this week?

Wedding Wednesday: Photographer AND Save the Dates

I have a piece of advice for any newlywed beginning their wedding planning: Relax. Everything WILL fall into place just the way it should.

That's how I live my life - so why wasn't I planning my wedding the same way? Who knows. But I am now. No more stress. Even though there's less than 5 months away, it'll be ok. I'm taking my time with some decisions because when I know it's right - I'll know

Photographer
I was trying to decide between all the potential wedding photographers. Which wasn't an easy task! Most of them started to seem like they were the same and I was deciding between which package I get more out of versus the beautiful moments the photographer comes across. This was until I found MY photographer - the perfect one for us! We gave our deposit over the weekend so I can truly say he is "mine!"

I am SO excited. Both V & I feel so comfortable with him and are so sure he is going to capture our wedding perfectly. We're doing an engagement shoot next Wednesday - he has some creative and fun ideas up his sleeve!!

Save the Dates
I've been in a debate for a few weeks now - to do save the dates or to not. I decided to do them - just a 2012 version of save the dates - online! I know some of the older people won't be happy with this but I truly wanted to not only save money (and trees!) but also give people as much time as possible to plan.

I took out our last names & the city we're getting married in - so don't think there are those big white spaces on the actual card!

Next On My List
Right now, I'm searching crazy for a band (small jazz ensemble) and an officiant. I hope to tackle these two tasks within the next couple of weeks!

After I get these done - then on to the fun stuff! (Table decorations, favors, etc.)

As always, if you have any advice you'd like to share - please do! ox

Why Going to a New Gym Sucks

Ok, sucks might be a strong word...but, it's up there.

Maybe it stems from the fact that I'm not a fan of change. Once I find my comfy little circle, I don't want to leave it.

Going to a new gym is all kinds of icky. You no longer have "your" parking spot or "your" piece of cardio equipment. You're accustomed to working out in a certain order but if the gym isn't set up to how you like it - your routine is completely changed (which isn't necessarily a bad thing.)

You miss seeing your "gym pals" at a new gym. Of course new gym pals can be made but it's just not the same.

I also noticed that everything smells different. The cleaning products are different so your nose is keen on the new smell. The equipment smells different. (Not to be gross, but it's true!)

Back to cardio equipment, the bicycle seats just don't feel the same. You finally got your booty used to riding that recumbent bike...now it's time for your booty to use a different one!

Do any of you ladies feel my pain??!

Nail Files: Zoya Style

I decided to grab a Zoya with my Birchbox points. They didn't have many choices so I came up with this one, Marley.

I LOVE the way the polish came on - very smooth and not crazy thick. I think I just might be a Zoya fan.

This isn't really a "fall color" - so sue me ;)

Do you ladies like Zoya?
I LOVE that it's chemical free!

Linking up with Tara & Vicki!
