I Dare You...

No...I double doggy dare you to do something extra special for someone today.

Do something that is going to make them smile so big you just want to pinch their cheeks and give them a hug.

So, Thursday of last week, I was minding my own business at work - cleaning my little heart out. I was on my hands + knees trying to get a weird stain off the floor. When all of a sudden, a member who was in earlier in the day, walks in with two delicious looking drinks from Dunkin Donuts. One for me - one for my co-worker. Just because. He saw how hard we were working when he was in earlier and just wanted to remind us how great of a job we do at work and - just because (just because we're that awesome ;) ).

YUM!

If that doesn't totally make your day...I don't know what will.

This fella didn't have to do this - he did it out of the kindness of his heart.

And you know what? It meant the world to me. (To my tummy, too!)

So this is my dare to you - I will do the same...do something kind for someone - anyone. And I mean something REALLY kind. Like- when you're buying a bottle of water and pack of gum at the gas station, pay with a $10 bill and let the cashier keep the change. Or buy a thank you card for someone you see on a consistent basis (maybe that guy at the post office who always helps you pack your packages) and give it to them. Or did you just get a pedicure at your local nail salon? Bring them some homemade cookies.

You're creative - you can figure something out. I have faith in you. :)

I will report back to you on Monday and let you know my random act of kindness.

Now go enjoy your weekend to the fullest and be extra kind!

  1. Hubby did something similar (can we share the credit as we are married?)He went into Burger King and bought two meals for 2 homeless men on the street. He didn't actually tell me, a friend caught him in the act and sent me a text and photo. I think that's what make random acts of kindness even more special, when the person does the "act" quietly.
    Lovely post!

  4. I took care of my kindness yesterday ;-) I picked beans, turnips, and squash for my neighbors (who are really having a hard time) and took those over with a casserole I made and a homemade apple pie, plus a dozen eggs from our chickens! Made my week to be able to help someone else :-)

  7. As someone who has been on the receiving end so often lately, can I just say it's true. Nice things go such a long way. Even the simplest of gestures can brighten someone's day.
Unfortunately I'm not really at a point where I can pay it forward right now, but as soon as I'm healthy I will. Because it really is such a blessing!

  10. This is great! Love it!
My husband and I gave a little bigger tip at lunch today. I know it might not be much but we just wanted too. And we offered some help to a family who was having car trouble.

  11. I love this idea, and I love that you got that drink just because! I have always wanted to "pay it forward" and it's something that's on my 101 Things list, so I'm going to have to remember this often.
