Wine-down Wednesday (1)

I've been reading recently how studies are proving that alcohol in moderation (specifically wine) is good for you. It helps increase "good cholesterol" - when you maintain a healthy diet & active life style. Also, studies have shown that a person who has drank alcohol moderately in their life has reduced the risk of mental health decline. Another interesting study showed that woman who drank at least 1 drink a day decreased the likelihood of obesity!

So it really is all about moderation. One drink is equivalent to - 5 ounces of wine, 12 ounces of bear, and 1.5 ounces of hard liquor.

With all of the above in mind, I am a fan of wine. Especially this wine in particular:

This is a red wine from Sonoma, California. Might I add that it is a delicious red wine.

It's from their "Diamond Collections" - Claret. (Oh, and it's Black Label!) It is advertised as a wine with flavors of blueberry & espresso. (Which I didn't get.)

The blend is: 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Petit Verdot, 5% Malbec, and 3% Cabernet Franc. The taste of Cab is definitely prevalent. (Obviously.)

It comes with a decoration of gold netting around it. Great presentation!

It's in the $15-$20 range. For my budget, it's not a "table top" wine to have every day. I could drink it every day since it is very "soft" and not too bold.

This is my "go to" wine to bring to a celebration or dinner party due to the unique style of the bottle (it definitely gets some people talking!) and the soft taste that even those who aren't a wine fan will enjoy. This is also a wine I'd like to have if I'm having a nice piece of steak for dinner!

Have you had the Claret before? If so, what'd you think?!

  4. I just can't get into it! I have tried different ones and I'm not a wine girl, I'm not much on alcohol at all. But I do like a mojito occasionally.
