To My Buddy...

Easter of 1996 a scrawny kitty found our home. My dad said we could keep him if he kept coming back...would you believe it that he kept coming back? Probably helped that I was feeding him. ;)

I named him Buddy. My nine year old self thought that was an "Eastery" name.

He soon became my best friend...my comforter...full of lots of hugs & gave me lots of smiles...he was always by my side...he liked to play hide and seek...he even liked to play tag. He always greeted me at the door when I came home and slept with me at night.

My beautiful Buddy found his way to Rainbow Bridge on Thursday night.

I am so incredibly sad...but I am thankful he left the world peacefully. He lived a long, healthy, beautiful, fun life with people who cared for him greatly.

Buddy was "my" baby. He wasn't just an ordinary cat...he cared for me just as much as I cared for him.

Rest in peace my beautiful Buddy. I will always love you & will always miss you terribly.

Thank you for allowing me to be your "mommy" for as long as I was.

I apologize if this doesn't make sense...it was hard for me to write...but I was hoping it would give me some sort of comfort.

  3. awww omg Cami I'm so sorry to hear about your loss! I lost a dog in 2010 and it was heartbreaking so I understand your pain. About two months after my first pomeranian passed away I got Tilly and it helped me heal so much. Love you friend, if you need anything let me know! Prayers to you!

  4. aww i'm so sorry! my family also got our cat back in 1996. He passed away this past December right after i got back from my honeymoon. long story short, he was our family cat and after my parents got dogs the cat had to come and live with me (it was for about 2 1/2 years). i was never a fan of the cat and he would pee all over my house. but when i saw him suffering and when we had to put him down i cried my eyes out. i was soo upset and i didnt ever really like the cat! haha. so i can't even imagine someone who really loves their cat losing them :(

  6. I loved my cat like crazy, I called him Tom, so creative, I know. :P
But one day he just never made his way back home. He used to roam around in our colony and everything. My younger brother and I cried for days and everything. I can only imagine how hard it must be for you!
He's up there chasing anything that moves :D, and eating loads of fish!

  7. Aww Cami I'm so sorry that you lost your Buddy! I'm almost tearing up just reading it. Animals are such a precious gift to us and like you said "his mommy" they are like children. It's hard to lose them.

  8. I'm so sorry Cami. You'll be in my thoughts today and I'm going to give my kitty some extra lovin' in Buddy's honor. We lost his sister earlier this year to a blood disease. My heart goes out to you. ::hugs::

  10. This makes me so so so so sad :( I'm sorry for this to happen to you. Your cat sounds like mine... playful, sweet, waits for me at the door, she is just a great friend and baby. I love her comfort and how friendly and supported she is. Cat's seem to have a more personal relationship with humans then dogs I think so I chose a cat over a dog any day (whoopees - off topic). I fear the loss of my baby everyday and I think about it every night when I go to sleep. I have a pretty good feeling she will be around for another 10 years as she is only 5 now but it's just the thought to know she won't be hear for ever, I guess. So sorry, cry it out and I hope you feel better.

  19. Oh Cami what a cute cute kitty Buddy was. I'm so sorry. I knew I shouldn't have come over here, but I hope you are comforted in knowing that sharing him here has made his life that much longer lived out in our minds now. He really sounds like a 4 legged gem.
